Designed by a Lifter, for Lifters, Camellia Luprete, the lifter who designed the Power Boot, founded Lifter's Athletic Wear (L.A.W.) in 2001. A Sergeant and 28-year veteran of the University of Texas, Houston Police Department, Luprete was a competitive powerlifter for 10 years. Participated in Texas Police Games, World Police and Fire Games, and several other powerlifting federations. During the first three years of her competitions and athletic training she discovered there was no shoe designed to provide adequate ankle support. Luprete developed and patented her unique Powerlifting Boot.

While designed specifically to meet the needs of lifters, the infrastructure of the Powerlifiting Boot could be easily adapted to any sport or activity that places undue stress on the ankle.
